JESSICA J MILLER
PHOTOGRAPHER, LOGISTICS, OPERATIONS
I have always been creative, whether it be with drawing, painting, food, or building things. I started capturing static moments in a single photo in 2013. I purchased a stock lower-end DSLR and taught myself how to use it. What followed was a steep learning curve that was pure enjoyment the entire way. The wonderful thing about photography is one is never done learning or developing their style, at least I'm not. I am now rarely without a camera. MOTORSPORTS
There is so much more to the world of motorsports besides the cars on track. The turn marshals waving checker, holding double standing yellow, watching over all the action on track. The Fire Safety team training and practicing multiple scenarios and skills for months before large events. Keeping all the drivers, crew members, media, and fans safe in the event something does happen on track. Yes, the cars on track racing are exciting, but when the track adjacent personal are so good at their jobs, it allows the action on track to shine.
DRIFT
A fellow photographer introduced me to drifting. I was hooked from the first event I attended. Learning about the sport and developing slow shutter panning shots to try to capture the motion of sliding around the course while keeping the car in focus. Every event is different, challenging, and fun.
LANDSCAPE
Living in the San Francisco Bay Area and California, one is spoiled when it comes to photography. Every day brings a different perspective on daily views. Getting in the car and taking a day trip to Yosemite to see it under a blanket of snow. Watching the fog roll in over the hills and valleys of the California coast.
SURF
I taught myself how to do action sport photography at the beaches of Northern California. Capturing a surfer on the wave of the day. Being always aware of one's surroundings as the ocean can be unpredictable and powerful yet beautiful. One of the most magnificent and unique surf spots, Fort Point, happens to be local and a favorite of mine. Seeing the wave come around the point, cresting under the Golden Gate Bridge. Surfers trying to catch the wave among the rocks, seals, and fisherman.
